I got some advice from a former wrestler...
- eat fish and leafy greens for every meal
- stay hydrated
- wear sweats when working out
- do a few more long metcons
- weigh myself every 6 hours
Then there is the lifting part, in front of a crowd, while wearing a singlet. Actually I'm a little excited about lifting. It really is a fear that I will make 0/6. It takes me back to my rugby days during nationals and we were playing Atlanta in Colorado Springs. I had just come back from a sprained ankle injury and was still somewhat in pain. I was paired up, as the outside center, against this outstanding Atlanta (and USA) player - Patty Jervey. Every fucking time she got around me. EVERY TIME. My teammates were pissed with me. I was pissed with me. I felt like I had let everyone down. I was crushed...
Life went on though and I lived to play a bit more rugby.
Why does that remind me of what is going to happen this weekend? I guess it is the same feeling in the pit of my stomach. I know there is really no one I'm going to let down on this, other than myself. I just want to succeed at something dammit! I've worked my ass off. My shoulder is sore though. I couldn't get 56 today and my opener is 57 on the snatch. My coach is trying to change up my clean a touch and that is messing with things. My opener for that is 72. What if I don't get those lifts???
Oh my god. I'm such a head case. If I learned anything from my cult days (a story for another day), it's that: "I'm scared. Ok... And, I'm going to go ahead and do this anyway." If I walk away without making any lifts, then it is a starting point. A place to grow from.
