A little love (handles)

I have been a "crossfitter" for three and a half years now. In the new year I decided I wanted to spend more time on my olympic lifting. I paired up with Ivan Rojas and Gwen Sisto at Risto Sports in Maine. Ivan has coached a million excellent athletes and Gwen is an international lifter. This training is, well... repetitive. The Russian system focuses on volume, rather than intensity. I do the same movements for the most part day in and day out. There are no wall balls or burpees or deadlifts or pull ups. There is no "constantly varied" anything.

I posted a video on instagram today that I had to take down. My form was decent. I cleaned and then jerked 120# for 3 reps. The weight is manageable and I thought my split jerk was pretty fast. Even though the weight was manageable, I wore a belt. I tend to hinge forward on the clean and wanted to eliminate that.

All I could see was the love handles exploding out between the belt and my shorts... miles and miles of love handles. Miles and miles. I can hear my mom saying, "well that video wasn't very becoming". I had to take it down.

I guess that video was a good motivator. I'm ready to tackle the love handles. As my exercise changes, so must my diet.
